"Love love, but do not love the man or you'll be in his power"

:)
[good movie, I should see it again :)]

[Clips from the film 'Dangerous Beauty' which focuses on the life of Veronica Franco, a sixteenth-century Venetian courtesan.

I realise that this is not exactly on the Tudors but the film is set in the sixteenth-century and is superb in terms of acting and settings.

For those who have not seen the film, Veronica is a young girl from a family suffering from financial difficulties. She falls in love with a nobleman, played by Rufus Sewell, who tells her that he must instead marry a girl from a prosperous family, although he is also in love with her. Her mother encourages her to become a courtesan and this scene focuses on her debut.

I'm not an expert on the real Veronica Franco, but she was a notable courtesan and a poet who was once the lover of Henry III of France. Apparently she married in her youth but in the end she became a courtesan to support herself. The film does not show Veronica getting married.]
